Kaihara is a traditional Japanese weaving mill that has become world-renowned for its denim. The denim weaving mill was started in the 1950s by Kaihara Sukejiro, and their denim is now used by well-known brands such as Levis and Edwin. Kaihara was among the first to produce "rope-dyed" indigo, and this quality is produced with far less dye waste and water consumption as the factory reuses its wash water.

Rope-dyed indigo denim develops a beautiful patina and fading with use. The color may bleed, especially at first, so it is recommended to wash alone or with other indigo-dyed fabrics. The fabric will become softer after washing and use. If you are going to pre-wash the fabric, we recommend a cold wash with a handful of salt to help set the color. Make sure the fabric has enough space in the washing machine and is not folded. Finished garments should be washed inside out and hung to dry.
